Arizona Wildcats vs #10 Utah Utes What to Watch:
The No. 10 Utah Utes look to exact some revenge on the Arizona Wildcats for a 42-18 loss last year as they square off in Salt Lake City on Saturday night. Utah (4-0) enters off a 22-19 win at No. 14 Oklahoma State, while Arizona had Week 4 off after a 31-7 defeat at No. 14 Kansas State. These teams meet for the first time as members of the Big 12 after having both played in the Pac-12. Before last year's win, the Arizona had lost the previous five meetings against the Utes.
Kickoff from Rice-Eccles Stadium is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. ET. The The Utes are 8-point favorites in the latest Utah vs. Arizona odds
The Wildcats, who had a slow start to the season with three games, need to get back on track after a bye week. Noah Fifita, the quarterback, hasn't been nearly as effective this season after winning seven of his nine games in 2023. He passed for 2,515 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just five interceptions in the previous season. Fifita has passed for 863 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions so far in 2024. Behind an offensive line that isn't blocking as well as they did the previous season, he has labored in the past two games.
Tetairoa McMillan, Fifita's high school teammate and the nation's top wide receiver, may be the front-runner for the Biletnikoff Award.
McMillan had an 11-catch, 138-yard outing against Kansas State following a 10-catch, 304-yard, four-touchdown outburst in Week 1. He grabbed eight catches for 116 yards and a touchdown against the Utes last year. The Fifita-McMillan connection needs to be successful against the stout Utah defense if the Wildcats are to stay within striking distance of the game on Saturday.
Will Cam Rising, the great quarterback, return to play against Arizona, or will Isaac Wilson, a freshman, be called up again? After missing all of 2023 due to a knee injury, Rising has struggled with a series of injuries during his brief comeback this season. Over the past two weeks, Wilson has performed admirably, leading the Utes to consecutive road wins against Utah State and a highly regarded Oklahoma State squad.
Running back Micah Bernard, who has 66 carries this season and averages almost seven yards per rush, is one of the Utes' many offensive weapons. Dorian Singer, a former wide receiver for Arizona and USC, is directly behind tight end Brant Kuithe, who has four touchdowns and leads the team with 216 receiving yards. Regardless of their quarterback on Saturday night, the Utes might put up a strong showing against an Arizona defense that has struggled against Kansas State and New Mexico this season. Additionally, there is a revenge component at play because some Utah players, coaches, and fans are seeking retribution after Arizona's long touchdown pass in the game's penultimate minute last year.
