Arkansas Razorbacks vs #16 Oklahoma State Cowboys What to Watch:

Although the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks haven't faced off in college football for forty-four years, their long-standing rivalry will be reignited on Saturday in Stillwater. These teams met each other every year except for three between 1950 and 1980, when Arkansas led the series 30-15-1. Both teams have recently defeated FCS opponents: the Cowboys defeated South Dakota State, the reigning FCS national champions, 44-20, while the Razorbacks defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 70-0.

The team led by Mike Gundy is coming off a successful 2024 campaign in which they defeated Oklahoma, advanced to the Big 12 Championship Game, and defeated Texas A&M in the bowl to finish with ten wins.

The Cowboys' finish line has shifted, though, as the College Football Playoff has grown to 12 teams and the program's main Big 12 opponents, the Sooners and Longhorns, have left for the SEC.

Superstar running back Ollie Gordon will be the engine behind Oklahoma State's obvious chance to win the Big 12 and qualify for the CFP. Gordon started the season with 126 rushing yards and three touchdowns last week, and he led FBS with 2,062 scrimmage yards and 22 touchdowns the previous season. Arkansas will have a difficult time stopping Gordon after allowing more than 201.3 yards per game on the ground during SEC play the following season.

Between Sam Pittman's first and second seasons, the Razorbacks' win totals jumped from three to nine, but in the two years that followed, they fell to seven and then four. Pittman worked hard this offseason on the transfer portal to improve his offense since he now realizes he's on the hot seat. Utah transfer Ja'Quinden Jackson is now the leading choice as running back, while Taylen Green transferred from Boise State to earn the quarterback position.

In just over an hour and a half of action versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Green threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns and added six rushing for 88 yards and two more scores. Jackson, meanwhile, caught two catches for 20 yards and ran the ball eight times for 101 yards and two scores. Before coming to Fayetteville, both were tried and tested as starters at reputable programs, and they will need to make a difference if the Razorbacks are to pull off the upset.
