Auburn Tigers vs #5 Georgia Bulldogs What to Watch:
On Saturday at Sanford Stadium, the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs and the Auburn Tigers will play an SEC matchup. Auburn is 2-3 overall and hasn't played away from home yet, while Georgia is 3-1 overall and 1-0 at home. Since 1892, these teams have faced off 128 times, and this clash is known as "The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry." Both teams are trying to recover from devastating defeats last week, as Auburn lost a late lead against Oklahoma and Georgia's incredible comeback proved insufficient at Alabama. While defensive linemen Jordan Hall and Mykel Williams are both doubtful, Georgia linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. has been declared out.
The game starts at 3:30 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Georgia vs. Auburn odds, the Bulldogs are now favored by 21.5 points after starting at -27.
Despite their eventual defeat, the Bulldogs can learn a lot from the Alabama game. After falling behind 30–7 at the half, the Bulldogs mounted a ferocious comeback, taking the lead again in the closing minutes before Alabama responded and won.
In addition to throwing for 439 yards and three touchdowns, quarterback Carson Beck will offer the Bulldogs a terrific chance to win big if he can reduce his mistakes, which included three interceptions last week. A trip home might be exactly what the Bulldogs need after failing to cover on the road for the last two weeks.
Georgia has won seven straight in this head-to-head series, and two of the last three have been by at least 24 points. Auburn's performance was somewhat of a reversal of Georgia's last week; the Tigers looked strong early against Oklahoma and held a 21-10 lead in the fourth quarter before faltering late. Oklahoma had an offensive touchdown, a defensive touchdown, and a field goal in the fourth to complete the comeback. They have won 26 straight at home, while Auburn has lost 14 straight away games against top-five opponents.
For the losing team, quarterback Payton Thorne made a strong effort, throwing for 338 yards and three touchdowns while gaining 10.6 yards per pass. Thorne gave the Tigers some quarterback stability following a difficult start by redshirt freshman Hank Brown the week before, but his late interception doomed the club. Cam Coleman, who had 82 yards receiving last week, including a 42-yard reception, is still looking like one of the SEC's more exciting young receivers.
