Baylor Bears vs #16 Iowa State Cyclones What to Watch:
On Saturday night, the Baylor Bears (2-3) will travel to play the No. 16 Iowa State Cyclones (4-0) in an attempt to end their two-game losing streak. The Bears are tied for last place in the Big 12 rankings after Baylor's one-point losses to Colorado and then-No. 22 BYU. Iowa State held a fourth consecutive opponent under 20 points to start the season with a 20-0 victory at Houston last week to start conference play. Although Baylor has won six of the previous ten meetings, the Cyclones triumphed 30-18 on the road last year.
At Jack Trice Stadium, kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Iowa State vs. Baylor odds, Iowa State is favored by 13 points.
After winning all four of its games to start the season, Iowa State has kept rising in the rankings. Last week, the Cyclones won 20-0 at Houston thanks to their dominance on all sides of the ball. Senior running back Jaylon Jackson finished with 96 yards, while sophomore running back Abu Sama III had 11 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown.
For the first time since 1980, the Cyclones will play in front of a "white out" crowd as they attempt to improve to 5-0.
This season, they have outscored opponents 113-29, and their defense, which gives up only 7.3 points per game, is ranked fourth in NCAA football. Baylor is on a 12-game losing streak versus Big 12 opponents, while Iowa State has covered the spread in eight of their last 12 games.
Three of Iowa State's four games ended with 21 points or fewer, indicating that their offense is not very explosive. It will be challenging to cover the two-touchdown spread since the Cyclones like to play slowly and manage the clock. After losing by a slim margin to then-No. 22 BYU last week, Baylor has scored at least 28 points in four of its first five games.
Against the Cougars, Sawyer Robertson, a junior quarterback, completed 27 of 48 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns. He is one of five Baylor players to surpass the 100-yard rushing milestone this season, having carried for 116 yards and three touchdowns. In five of the previous six games between these teams, Baylor has covered the spread.
