Baylor Bears vs LSU Tigers What to Watch:
When the Baylor Bears play the LSU Tigers in the 2024 Texas Bowl on New Year's Eve, it will be a Big 12 vs. SEC matchup. Both sides have momentum going into Tuesday's matchup. Baylor has won six straight games, most recently defeating Kansas Nov. 30 by a score of 45–17. In contrast, the Tigers have won two in a row and defeated Oklahoma 37–17 in their most recent game.
On Tuesday, kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET at Houston's NRG Stadium. According to the most recent Baylor vs. LSU odds, Baylor is now favored by 3.5 points after personnel announcements flipped the line from LSU's opening position as the favorite.
With six consecutive victories, the Bears are among the nation's most exciting teams. On November 30, quarterback Sawyer Robertson put on a display, passing for 310 yards and four touchdowns in Baylor's 45-17 victory over Kansas. With 293 total yards rushing versus the Jayhawks, Baylor also had outstanding success on the ground. Bryson Washington, a running back, gained 192 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries.
LSU will play a significant role in this game, including a large portion of the offensive line. The Tigers will be without tight end Mason Taylor, wide receiver Kyren Lacy, and starting tackles Will Campbell and Emery Jones Jr. because they are all heading to the NFL Draft.
Additionally, Baylor is 13-3 ATS in its previous 16 December games and 6-0 against the spread during their six-game winning streak.
In its victory over Oklahoma in the regular season finale, LSU's offense seemed to settle into a rhythm. Leading the Tigers was quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who announced his return for his senior season and threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns. Nussmeier has passed for 3,739 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions so far this season.
Caden Durham, a rookie running back, was incredibly productive for the Tigers in the closing minutes. In his last three games, he averaged 5.1 yards per run and ended with at least 80 rushing yards in two of them. In LSU's 34-10 victory over Arkansas, Durham also became the first player to score three running touchdowns in a single game since 2022. In their last three games, the Tigers have allowed 20.3 points per game on defense.
