Boston College Eagles vs 10 Florida State Seminoles What to Watch:

When Florida State plays the Boston College Eagles on Monday, the Seminoles will wrap off Week 1 of their college football schedule, which began with Week 0. Despite being favored by double digits in Week 0, FSU lost to Georgia Tech 24-21 and now wants to salvage its season and chances of qualifying for the College Football Playoffs. The Eagles have a potent offensive triumvirate returning this fall: leading quarterback Thomas Castellanos, top running back Kye Robichaux, and top receiver Lewis Bond. Boston College will play their first game of the season after finishing 7-6 the previous year.

With an average of 23 points in its previous three home games versus Boston College, FSU has won 12 of its last 13 games and five in a row. The last time they faced each other in Tallahassee, Florida State defeated Boston College 44-14 in 2022. During that time, Florida State won six of its games by a margin of at least two points.

One of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the transfer portal this summer was DJ Uiagalelei, a graduate transfer from Oregon State who also played at Clemson. Uiagalelei passed for at least 200 yards in seven of his last eight games last season, despite throwing for just 193 yards against Georgia Tech. He is a far better quarterback than he was in Week 0 of last season, as evidenced by his final seven games, which saw 13 touchdowns compared to three interceptions.

With Cam Horsley and Donovan Ezeiruaku back on the defensive line and Ozzy Trapilo and Logan Taylor back on the offensive line, Boston College looks to be strong at the line of scrimmage this season. Ezeiruaku is two years after recording 8.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss as a sophomore, and Trapilo, who stands 6 feet 8 and weighs 309 pounds, was selected to the second team of the ACC last season. In order to strengthen their defensive front, Boston College brings back all four of their starting defensive lineman.

Last season, Boston College scored the game's final 19 points in a 31-29 loss to the Seminoles, giving Florida State a late scare. With the Seminoles losing the first game of the season and losing a lot of players from their 13-1 squad from the previous season, Boston College might cover the number. Boston College has won or lost by one touchdown in five of its last six games against Florida State. Bill O'Brien, the former head coach of the Houston Texans and coach of Penn State to two winning seasons, is making his head coaching debut at Boston College and has the potential to enhance the school right away.
