#11 BYU Cougars vs UCF Knights What to Watch:
On Saturday afternoon, the No. 11 BYU Cougars (7-0) will take on the UCF Knights (3-4) on the road for the first time since the end of September. After dominating Arizona in its last game, BYU continued its undefeated start to the season last Friday, defeating Oklahoma State 38-35. After defeating then-No. 9 Iowa State in a 38-35 final last week, UCF has now lost four straight games after winning its first three of the season. This is the first time these teams have faced each other since BYU defeated them 49–23 in 2020.
At FBC Mortgage Stadium, kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The most recent UCF vs. BYU odds see UCF favored by 2.5 points.
After its finest performance during the four-game losing streak, UCF has spent the last month searching for answers. As 13.5-point underdogs in their defeat over then-No. 9 Iowa State, the Knights easily covered the spread before giving up a game-winning touchdown with 30 seconds left. With 196 rushing yards on 25 carries at an average of 7.8 yards per attempt, senior running back RJ Harvey maintained his incredible season.
Harvey has over 125 rushing yards four times this season, totaling 890 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Against Iowa State, sophomore quarterback Jacurri Brown, who assumed the starting role two weeks ago, only completed eight of twenty passes.
He did, however, dash for 154 yards and two touchdowns, giving the offense a dual-threat option.
With seven straight victories to start the season, BYU has become a serious candidate for the College Football Playoffs. The Cougars have defeated Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Kansas State, which was ranked number thirteen at the time. With an average of 34.9 points per game, they have scored at least 34 points in all but one of their games.
In addition to leading the team with 265 rushing yards and two more touchdowns, junior quarterback Jake Retzlaff has 1,642 passing yards and 15 touchdowns. With 27 receptions for 450 yards and four touchdowns, senior wide receiver Darius Lassiter leads the club in wide receivers. Eight of the Cougars' last nine games have seen them cover the spread.
