#23 Clemson Tigers vs Virginia Tech Hokies What to Watch:

The No. 23 Clemson Tigers (6-2) will try to avoid suffering consecutive upset defeats when they meet the Virginia Tech Hokies (5-4) on Saturday afternoon. Clemson saw its six-game winning streak stopped in a 33-21 loss to Louisville last Saturday, falling out of the College Football Playoff picture. Additionally, the Tigers now trail No. 13 SMU and No. 4 Miami (FL) in the ACC rankings. After losing to Syracuse in overtime last week, Virginia Tech is looking to recover from a defeat of its own.

Lane Stadium/Worsham Field will host kickoff on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The most recent Virginia Tech vs. Clemson odds see Clemson as the favorite by 6.5 points.

All four of Virginia Tech's defeats have been by a single score, making it one of the best four-loss teams in college football. The Hokies lost 38-31 against Syracuse after blowing a 21-3 lead in overtime, their second loss of the season. Backup quarterback Collin Schlee had 206 yards and a touchdown in relief of starting quarterback Kyron Drones.

The Tigers had been strong aside from their two losses, but Clemson's chances of making the College Football Playoffs were probably dashed last week. In four of those games, they covered the spread, and they have won six games by a margin of at least 16 points. Cade Klubnik, a junior quarterback, has excellent stats: 2,064 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and only three interceptions.

The defense at Virginia Tech will have its hands full because he has also ran for 270 yards and four touchdowns. With an average of 6.3 yards per carry, senior running back Phil Mafah has 853 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Five of the Tigers' six consecutive victories over the Hokies have seen them cover the spread.
