Florida Atlantic Owls vs Michigan State Spartans What to Watch:
As the athletic dual-threat quarterback makes his collegiate debut, the Michigan State Spartans are counting on sophomore Aiden Chiles to develop into the role. In skill position players like running back Nathan Carter, Oregon State transfer Jack Velling, and receivers like Montorie Foster and rookie Nick Marsh, he is surrounded by a wealth of talent, or at least prospective talent.
Above all, it appears like the Spartans may finally have an offensive line that can enable plays from its skill position players. Transfer to the All-American team A group of younger linemen who were highly regarded as prospects will join Tanner Miller, who should be an excellent line anchor.
The Florida Atlantic Owls will find it difficult to handle so much skill on defense. Fortunately for FAU, its arsenal of offensive weapons should at least allow it to remain in the game.
Prior to the season, Florida Atlantic, like many other clubs, made a significant effort to improve its squad through the transfer portal. Cam Fancher, a quarterback who threw for 11 touchdowns and ran for four more last season, was selected by the Owls from Marshall.
The Owls' style of play, rather than their skill set, may be the most important consideration. Tom Herman, the head coach, will want to get the Spartans off of sync early while pushing the tempo. Herman is known for his fast-paced offensive style.
Although both attacks are skilled and will find ways to score, Michigan State is a deeper, more talented club, and that will be evident over the course of 60 minutes. That's sufficient for me to win the Over in what ought to be a thrilling and high-scoring first game for both sides.
