Florida International Panthers vs Liberty Flames What to Watch:
On Tuesday, the Florida International Panthers (2-3, 1-0) travel to Lynchburg, Virginia, to play the Liberty Flames (4-0, 2-0), hoping to pull off a huge upset. FIU fell to FCS rival Monmouth before defeating Louisiana Tech 17–10 in its most recent game. The Panthers are seeking a 2-0 conference play start for the first time since 2018. After Hurricane Helene caused damage in the area, Liberty's game against Appalachian State on September 28 was canceled, resulting in an extended break. On September 21, the Flames defeated East Carolina 35–24 in their most recent game. Last year, Liberty easily defeated the Panthers 38–6 in their encounter with FIU.
Since joining Conference USA in 2023, the Flames have won all 11 of their conference games and have the longest winning streak in the country, with 16 games left in the regular season.
CBS Sports Network will kick off at 7 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Liberty vs. FIU odds, the Flames are now favored by 16.5 points after opening at -20.
Liberty is focused on trying to secure a spot in the College Football Playoffs' Group of 5. With a perfect 11-0 record at the completion of the regular season, the Flames have a very realistic chance of competing against teams like Boise State, Navy, Army, and UNLV.
Kaidon Salter, the quarterback for Liberty, is considered a possible NFL Draft pick. With 2,876 yards, 32 touchdowns, and six interceptions in 2023, Salter was an exceptional quarterback. In addition, he ran for 12 touchdowns and 1,089 yards. Salter has 131 rushing yards, 949 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception through four 2024 games.
After suffering an unexpected defeat to FCS rival Monmouth on September 21, the Panthers bounced back well. The following week, FIU surprised Louisiana Tech by defeating the Bulldogs 17–10 at home. Mike MacIntyre, the head coach of Florida International, has won the 2016 National Coach of the Year award while coaching at Colorado and is a proven winner at the Power-4 and Group of 5 levels.
One of the most dynamic players in Conference USA is Keyone Jenkins, the quarterback for FIU. Nine touchdowns, four interceptions, and 1,104 yards have been thrown by the Miami sophomore. In addition, he has ran for a score and 50 yards. Eric Rivers, a junior wide receiver who is averaging more than 18 yards per reception this season, has been his preferred target.
