Florida State Seminoles vs #10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish What to Watch:

Despite having quite different 2024 college football seasons, two of the greatest names in college football will square off on Saturday when the Florida State Seminoles travel to the No. 10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Florida State is 1-8 overall and 0-3 away from home, while Notre Dame is 7-1 overall and 3-1 at home. Last week's 35-11 loss to North Carolina was the fifth straight loss for the Seminoles. With a 51-14 victory in their most recent game, the Irish, who are currently on a six-game winning streak, dealt the previously undefeated Navy its first setback. Notre Dame won the final meeting in 2021, although FSU leads the rivalry overall, 6-5.

Notre Dame Stadium will host the game on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Florida State vs. Notre odds, the Fighting Irish are ahead by 26 points.

Florida State has been more competitive lately, even though the season as a whole has been incredibly disappointing. It has gone 3-3 against the spread (ATS) since failing to cover in each of its first three games. In its two games against ranked opponents this season—against then-No. 15 Clemson and then-No. 6 Miami—that includes covering. In contrast, Notre Dame has performed poorly in 2024 despite being heavy favorites. The Irish have fallen against the spread in the last two games, and this is the third time it has been favored by 24+ points.

The Noles, who rank 18th in the country in terms of sack percentage, are skilled at getting to the quarterback. They have also taken down Miami's Cam Ward, a Heisman favorite, four times. The Irish's vulnerability is their passing offense, which that pass defense must contend with. Notre Dame frequently stymies drives by failing to convert on third downs, since they only rank 99th (out of 134 FBS teams) in throwing yards per game. FSU may win by a slim margin because the Irish aren't being helped by their kicking game, which is ranked 114th in FG percentage, and because 73 FBS clubs commit less penalties per game than Notre Dame.

After hammering Navy, Notre Dame is currently on a bye. Riley Leonard, the quarterback, had 178 yards and two touchdowns via the air in addition to 83 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Only three opponents have completed more than half of their passes against the Irish this season, demonstrating how the Irish defense kept the Midshipmen to a passing completion percentage of only 50%. Marcus Freeman's team has the fourth-best scoring defense in the country in large part because Notre Dame has forced 18 turnovers this season compared to only 11 touchdowns allowed.

Running back Jeremiyah Love has rushed for a touchdown in eight consecutive games this season, which is tied for the second-longest active streak in FBS, while Leonard has scored a rushing touchdown in each of his previous seven games. With a 31.3-point average margin of victory, the Irish have dominated and won six in a row. FSU has failed to cover in each of the last three games, but this is only the fourth occasion in the last 30 years that it will be an underdog by more than 23 points.
