Florida Gators vs #8 Tennessee Volunteers What to Watch:
When the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers (4-1) play the Florida Gators (3-2) on Saturday night, they want to put their season's first defeat behind them. Tennessee returns to Knoxville for a four-game homestand after losing 19–14 to Arkansas last week, ending its four-game winning run. Although it has somewhat subsided after victories over Mississippi State and UCF, Florida head coach Billy Napier is still under fire. Including a 29-16 victory at home last season, the Gators have won 17 of the previous 19 encounters between these rivals. Squirrel White, Dont'e Thornton Jr., and Bru McCoy, three Tennessee receivers, have been taken off the injury report and are anticipated to play.
Kickoff at Knoxville's Neyland Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Tennessee vs. Florida odds, the Vols are 14.5-point favorites.
Tennessee, which is 17-1 in its previous 18 games at Neyland Stadium, will be glad to be home after playing poorly at Arkansas last week. Before losing to the Razorbacks, the Vols had scored more than 50 points in their first three home games of the season and had covered the spread in five straight games. Although they haven't had much success against Florida in recent decades, quarterbacks Joshua Dobbs and Hendon Hooker managed to defeat the Gators.
DeSean Bishop has contributed 306 yards and three touchdowns, while Dylan Sampson, a junior running back, leads the rushing assault with 589 yards and 12 touchdowns. This is the ideal chance for Tennessee to get back on track against a rival, since Florida has only covered the spread three times in its last ten games.
Although Napier is still on the hot seat, a victory for the Gators on Saturday may significantly alter the situation. They recently defeated UCF and Mississippi State in back-to-back games, both by double digits. In the victory versus the Knights, their defense played well, limiting them to only 108 running yards and recording five sacks.
DJ Lagway, a rookie, completed all four of his tosses for 50 yards, while veteran quarterback Graham Mertz completed 19 of 23 passes for 179 yards. Tennessee's passing attack, which had trouble at Arkansas, will be under pressure if the Gators can contain the rushing attack on Saturday.
