Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs Vanderbilt Commodores What to Watch:

When the Vanderbilt Commodores play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Friday, the stage is set for the 2024 Birmingham Bowl. Georgia Tech is 1-4 on the road in 2024, despite having the superior regular-season record (7-5) and winning all six of its meetings with Vanderbilt. After a three-game losing streak that ended the season at 6-6, the Commodores are looking to climb back into the win column.

On Friday, the game will kick off at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama, at 3:30 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Vanderbilt vs. Georgia Tech odds, the Yellow Jackets are favored by three points.

Despite battling a shoulder ailment in the latter part of the season, starting quarterback Haynes King has been productive for the Yellow Jackets, throwing for 1,910 yards with 11 touchdowns and just one interception. King has stated that he will participate. In a wild 44-42 8OT defeat to Georgia on November 29, he amassed 303 passing yards and 110 rushing yards in the regular-season finale.

Georgia Tech covered in two of the final three games of the season and finished 6-5-1 against the spread.

The Yellow Jackets are also 6-1 in their last seven games when playing as the favorite, while Vanderbilt was a bit overvalued late in the season (1-2 ATS in last three) after pulling off some notable upsets earlier in the year.

The Commodores were 8-4-0 against the spread this season and an impressive 7-2-0 as underdogs in 2024. In the last seven regular-season games that they were underdogs, Vandy covered five times including each of their final three games on the road. Vanderbilt's defense ranked 62nd in the nation this season in scoring defense, giving up 25.2 points per game on average.

Diego Pavia, the quarterback, hopes to continue building on his stellar 2024 campaign on the other side of the ball. The transfer from New Mexico State had a 2,133-yard passing total, 17 touchdowns, and four interceptions. This season, he also guided the Commodores to an unprecedented upset victory over Alabama. Leading receiver Eric Singleton Jr. and starting left tackle Corey Robinson are two of the prominent players in the portal, and Georgia Tech is experiencing a higher rate of roster attrition overall.
