#3 Georgia Bulldogs vs #16 Ole Miss Rebels What to Watch:
On Saturday afternoon, the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs (7-1) will travel to Ole Miss to play the No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels (7-2) in an attempt to avoid their second defeat of the season. Since losing to then-No. 4 Alabama at the end of September, Georgia has won four straight games, including a 34–20 victory over Florida last week. After dropping three straight games against unranked opponents—Kentucky and then-No. 13 LSU—Ole Miss has now won two in a row. If the Rebels hope to qualify for the College Football Playoffs, they probably can't afford to lose on Saturday. Ole Miss will not have running back Henry Parrish Jr., and backup Matt Jones is questionable.
Georgia rates defensive lineman Micah Morris and linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. as likely, while offensive lineman Smael Mondon Jr. is listed as questionable.
On Saturday, Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at Hollingsworth Field will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET. The most recent Ole Miss vs. Georgia odds see Georgia as the favorite by 1.5 points.
Ole Miss lost to LSU in overtime last month, their only game against a ranked opponent this season. This is the Rebels' chance to argue for a berth in the College Football Playoffs as they finish the season with games against Florida and Mississippi State. They easily defeated the Razorbacks 63-31 last week, and they are coming off two easy victories over Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Senior wide receiver Jordan Watkins had eight grabs for 254 yards and five touchdowns, while senior quarterback Jaxson Dart completed 25 of 31 throws for 515 yards and six touchdowns. The Rebels are playing in front of a boisterous audience on Saturday, and they are at the perfect moment. In contrast to Georgia, which has only covered once in its previous seven games, they have covered the spread in seven of their last ten games.
This is really a must-win game for the Bulldogs as they attempt to avoid a second loss, as Georgia still has a game against No. 7 Tennessee next week. Since their defeat at the hands of Alabama, they have won four games in a row, all by double digits.
Three weeks ago, they put on their best show of the season against then-No. 1 Texas, where sophomore running back Trevor Etienne recorded 87 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
With an average of 5.1 yards per rush this season, Etienne has been a dependable member of Georgia's backfield. The Bulldogs have the resources necessary to win a crucial road game since they also have a great defense, an outstanding head coach, and a seasoned quarterback. They have covered the spread in four of the previous five games between these teams and won 11 of the previous 12 matches.
