#10 Indiana Hoosiers vs #7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish What to Watch:

In a matchup that few anticipated going into the 2024 college football season, the No. 7 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish will meet the No. 10 seed Indiana Hoosiers on Friday night. Notre Dame is participating in their third College Football Playoff (CFP), but it is the first since the 2020 season because the CFP structure was introduced in 2014. Indiana is participating in its first CFP in program history. Notre Dame finished the season 11-1, with their lone defeat occurring on September 7 as 27.5-point favorites, 16-14, in a stunning upset against Northern Illinois.

One of the greatest tales in college football is Indiana, which went 11-1 overall, including 8-1 in the Big Ten, after smashing its preseason over/under total.

At Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, kickoff is scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Indiana vs. Notre Dame odds, Notre Dame is favored by seven points.

These days, the Hoosiers are more than simply a basketball school. This season, Indiana has exceeded expectations. To start, they dominated a preseason over/under of 5.5 wins then doubled that total in the regular season. This season, Indiana was 9-2 ATS and only lost one game where the margin was not covered.

With a 66-0 victory over Purdue to end the season, the Hoosiers covered the spread by 37 points. Indiana trailed the nation's top scoring offense (40.3 points per game) and sixth-ranked defense (15.7 points per game) by more than 28 points in six of its victories this season. Against Notre Dame, the Hoosiers had the fifth-best turnover margin (+1.1) in the country, and making the most of possessions will be essential. Kurtis Rourke, the sixth-year senior quarterback, threw for 349 yards and six touchdowns versus Purdue, and completed 70.4% of his throws with 27 touchdowns this season, compared to four interceptions.

One of the most prominent football programs in collegiate history, Notre Dame bounced back well from the unexpected early-season setback to NIU.

With dual-threat quarterback Riley Leonard and running back Jeremiyah Love, who has been cleared to play following a knee injury sustained in the regular-season finale, the Fighting Irish have depended on a run-heavy strategy. This season, Leonard has thrown for 2,092 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions, while rushing for 721 yards and 14 scores. As a sophomore, Love has amassed 949 yards and 15 touchdowns on 7.1 yards per carry this season, ranking among the best running backs in the country in his class upon graduating from high school. This running attack might be too much for Indiana to handle. Notre Dame ranks second in the country with 6.3 yards per carry and 11th in terms of rushing yards (224.8 per game).
