#18 Iowa State Cyclones vs #13 Miami Hurricanes What to Watch:

The No. 18 Iowa State Cyclones and the No. 13 Miami Hurricanes will square off in one of the postseason's most exciting non-playoff games on Saturday in the 2024 Pop-Tarts Bowl. With Iowa State falling to Arizona State in the Big 12 Championship and Miami losing to Syracuse as a 12-point favorite to miss the ACC Championship Game, both teams are recovering from having their ambitions of making the College Football Playoffs scuppered late in the season.

The game will go off in Orlando's Camping World Stadium at 3:30 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Iowa State vs. Miami odds, the Hurricanes are currently favored by 3.5 points after starting as slight underdogs.

After leading the Cyclones to bowl games in his first five seasons, Matt Campbell's team suffered a significant setback in 2022 with a 4-8 campaign. However, they recovered to 7-6 the previous season and won the program's first 10-win season this year. Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel each surpassed 1,000 yards in receiving, and Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht threw for 3,235 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Before suffering a disappointing loss in the Big 12 Championship Game, the Cyclones had a successful season away from home, defeating Iowa, Houston, West Virginia, and Utah.

Opt-outs and the transfer portal haven't had much of an impact on Iowa State, and the combination of Becht, Higgins, and Noel might be problematic for a Miami pass defense that has allowed at least 297 passing yards in five of its previous nine games.

Cam Ward, a Heisman Trophy finalist, is expected to be selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but he is still on schedule to play on Saturday to round up an incredible season. Ward threw for 4,123 yards and 36 touchdowns, adding four rushing scores and a receiving touchdown, after tossing for almost 7,000 yards in two years at Washington State.

Despite the departure of No. 3 receiver Isaiah Horton to Alabama, the Hurricanes have also mostly avoided significant losses due to opt-outs and the transfer portal. To help lead a Miami attack that averaged 44.0 points and 538.3 yards per game (first nationally in both categories), Xavier Restrepo, a 1,000-yard receiver, and Damien Martinez, a 1,000-yard running back, are anticipated to play on Saturday.
