#8 LSU Tigers vs Arkansas Razorbacks What to Watch:

On Saturday night, the Arkansas Razorbacks will play the No. 8 LSU Tigers in an SEC matchup. The Tigers lead the all-time series 44-23-2, and this will be the 70th edition of The Battle for the Boot. LSU (5-1, 2-0) has won five straight games after defeating then-No. 9 Ole Miss 29-26 in overtime. In the meantime, Arkansas (4-2, 2-1) defeated the Tennessee Volunteers, who were ranked fourth at the time, in their most recent game despite having a bye last week. Last year, LSU prevailed 34–31 at home.

At Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas, kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. The Tigers are favored by 2.5 points.

off defeating No. 4 Tennessee in its previous game, Arkansas comes into this game rested and with momentum off a bye. Prior to that game, the Vols were scoring 54 points a game on average, but they were only able to score 14 points against a Hogs defense that has now held its last three opponents to 21 points or less. Concurrently, it was the Razorbacks' first triumph against a top-five club since defeating No. 1 LSU in 2007.

The Razorbacks are 5-1 against the spread (ATS), the best mark in the SEC, giving them a significant spread edge in this matchup. As a favorite in 2024, LSU is 1-3 and has a 2-4 ATS record, which is the second-worst SEC record.

In recent games against ranked teams, the Hogs have also performed better than expected; they have covered in eight of their previous nine games against AP-ranked opponents. Although Arkansas has a 12-4-1 ATS record over the teams' last 17 encounters, LSU has won many of their recent matches with Arkansas handily.

Last week, LSU defeated Ole Miss thanks to strong performances from a number of players, but none more so than Garrett Nussmeier, who threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns. With 111 receiving yards and a touchdown, Kyren Lacy was Nussmeier's top target. He has now recorded back-to-back games with 100 yards or more.

As the Tigers sacked Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart six times after he had been brought down six times in his previous four games combined, the defense also contributed to stifling Ole Miss' formidable offensive.

With victories in seven of the last eight meetings, including four in a row against Arkansas, LSU has recently dominated the Battle for the Golden Boot rivalry. Additionally, since Brian Kelly became head coach in 2022, the Tigers have a stellar 21-2 record versus opponents who are not ranked. Sam Pittman, the head coach of the Razorbacks, is only 1-5 at home against teams ranked in the top 10.
