Marshall Thundering Herd vs #3 Ohio State Buckeyes What to Watch:

On Saturday, the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes play the Marshall Thundering Herd in Week 4, hoping to continue their winning ways. In Weeks 1 and 2, Ryan Day's squad dominated, defeating Akron 52-6 and excluding Western Michigan 56-0. Even though the Buckeyes haven't yet traveled or faced a ranked team, their bye in Week 3 has raised expectations. Additionally, they will be facing a Marshall club that has a 1-2 record this season and has never triumphed in Columbus.

According to the most recent Ohio State vs. Marshall odds, the Buckeyes are 40 points ahead.

Since defeating Akron by 46 points and Western Michigan by 56 points this season, Ohio State has had little issue winning by this kind of margin. The Buckeyes will be hoping to score quickly on Saturday afternoon because they also had a week off to prepare for this game. With running backs Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson combining for 294 yards on 40 touches, they amassed 683 yards of offense in their victory over Western Michigan.

The defense held the Broncos to just 99 total yards, recording its first shutout since 2019. Ohio State held an opponent to less than 100 yards for the first time since defeating Maryland 62–14 in 2017.

The Buckeyes have covered the spread in six of their previous seven home games, and senior quarterback Will Howard has thrown for 520 yards and four touchdowns.

Marshall has defeated No. 8 Notre Dame in 2022 and Virginia Tech in 2023, demonstrating his ability to compete with some of the nation's best schools. This season, the Thundering Herd fought hard against Virginia Tech, covering the spread despite being 21-point underdogs. After finishing with 119 yards and a touchdown in the season opener, sophomore running back A.J. Turner had 103 rushing yards on just six carries.

Stone Earle, a senior quarterback, has rushed for 86 yards and passed for 228 yards and three touchdowns. Some drive-extending plays can result from having a dual-threat quarterback, and multiple lengthy drives should consume enough time to prevent Ohio State from winning by more than 40 points. In four of their previous five Saturday games, the Thundering Herd have covered the spread.
