Michigan State Spartans vs Michigan Wolverines What to Watch:

The Michigan Wolverines (4-3, 2-2) will play the Michigan State Spartans (4-3, 2-2) at Michigan Stadium on Saturday in the 2024 Battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy, one of college football's longest rivalries. Michigan State is 1-2 away from home, while Michigan is 4-1 at home. The Spartans are trying to build on their 32–20 victory against Iowa, while the Wolverines are trying to recover from a 21–7 loss to Illinois. In the all-time series, Michigan is up 73-38-5. MSU has a 4-3 ATS record, while Michigan has a 1-6 record against the spread this season. After being benched early in the season, Davis Warren is expected to make a comeback as Michigan's starting quarterback.

The Ann Arbor kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Michigan State vs. Michigan odds, Michigan is favored by 4 points.

The Wolverines still have one of the top defenses in the Big Ten, even though they aren't as good as the squad that won the national championship the year before. Two of the top athletes in the nation at their positions are defensive tackles Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant. Most people believe that Graham will be selected in the top 10 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

All-American cornerback Will Johnson's comeback may be a huge boost for Michigan.

Before suffering an unidentified injury, the 6-foot-2 junior was establishing himself as a leading contender for the Jim Thorpe Award; nevertheless, there is a potential that he will make a comeback this week. The Wolverines have struggled offensively, but they do have several players who could affect the game, like running backs Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings and tight end Colston Loveland.

Last week, the Spartans defeated Iowa 32–20, ending a three-game losing streak. They will take on a Michigan squad this week that has had trouble beating the spread, going 1-6 against the number so far. Under first-year head coach Jonathan Smith, MSU experienced a lot of upheaval this season, but their victory over Iowa indicated that they are beginning to come together as a team.

Smith was followed from Oregon State by sophomore quarterback Aidan Chiles, who just had one of his best games of the year. Chiles carried for 51 yards and completed 22 of 30 throws for 256 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Nick Marsh, a rookie wide receiver with 24 receptions for 433 yards and a touchdown, has been his preferred target.
