Michigan State Spartans vs #6 Oregon Ducks What to Watch:

The Week 6 college football schedule's Friday slate features a Big Ten matchup between the Michigan State Spartans (3-2, 1-1) and the No. 6 Oregon Ducks (4-0, 1-0) at Autzen Stadium. After surviving early-season scares against Boise State and Idaho, the Ducks won their last two games handily against UCLA and Oregon State. In the first month of the season, head coach Dan Lanning has seen great success from running back Jordan James and quarterback Dillon Gabriel. In their most recent game, Ohio State dominated the Spartans, defeating them 38–7. This season, Michigan State has a 2-0 record against the spread when playing on the road.

In Eugene, kickoff is set at 9:00 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Michigan State vs. Oregon odds, the Ducks are favored by 23.5 points.

Oregon has a significant advantage in this game based only on talent. The Ducks have been excellent on the defensive end of the ball, with the exception of a lackluster performance against Boise State. This season, they are giving up 18.8 points per game and 266.8 total yards per game (154.8 passing, 112.0 rushing) going into this game. The defensive linemen Derrick Harmon (2.0 sacks), Jordan Burch (2.5 sacks), and Matayo Uiagalelei (3.0 sacks) lead the Ducks' pass rush squad, which is among the greatest in college football.

Gabriel's offensive prowess garners most of the attention, but his supporting cast is equally impressive. The Ducks have one of the strongest receiving corps in the Big Ten (Tez Johnson, Evan Stewart, Traeshon Holden, and Terrance Ferguson), and offensive tackles Josh Conerly Jr. and Ajani Cornelius are both projected early NFL Draft selections. With 386 yards and four touchdowns on 64 attempts this season, James has shown that he is a home run threat.

The Ducks are familiar with Jonathan Smith, the first-year head coach of Michigan State. Smith had been Oregon State's head coach for the previous six seasons before accepting the position at MSU.

Despite being huge underdogs in each of those games, Smith guided the Beavers to a 2-4 record against Oregon during his tenure at Corvallis.

During the offseason, Smith moved from Corvallis to East Lansing with Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles. Although Chiles has had a patchy start to the season, his potential is apparent overall. When the sophomore quarterback graduated from high school, 247Sports ranked him as a four-star, national top-100 recruit. His ability to run might provide a serious challenge to Oregon's defense.
