NC State Wolfpack vs #21 Clemson Tigers What to Watch:
On Saturday afternoon, the No. 21 Clemson Tigers (1-1) will host the North Carolina State Wolfpack (2-1) to begin ACC action. Two weeks ago, Clemson defeated Appalachian State 66-20 after losing badly to top-ranked Georgia in its season opener. After losing 51-10 to then-No. 14 Tennessee, NC State just defeated Louisiana Tech in a comeback victory of its own. Before missing out on the championship game in two of the previous three seasons, the Tigers won six consecutive ACC titles.
The game will start at 12:00 ET. In the most recent Clemson vs. NC State odds, the Tigers are suddenly 18-point favorites after starting at -10.
The Tigers recovered with an outstanding effort in Week 2 after Clemson's terrible opening game against Georgia at a less-than-neutral location. They jumped out to a 35-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and were just 17 points ahead in that 66-20 victory. Cade Klubnik, a junior quarterback, ran for two additional touchdowns and completed 24 of 26 passes for 378 yards and five touchdowns.
Phil Mafah, a senior running back, has averaged 6.8 yards per carry in his first two games, rushing for 177 yards and a touchdown. While NC State had to come back from an 11-point deficit against Louisiana Tech last week, the Tigers had an extra week to prepare for this matchup.
The Tigers have covered the spread in five of their last seven games, and Clemson has defeated NC State at home in nine consecutive games.
NC While State has won two double-digit games this season, it also suffered a resounding neutral-site defeat at the hands of Tennessee. Last week, the Wolfpack overcame a 17-6 hole to defeat Louisiana Tech 30–20 after rushing for 151 yards and two touchdowns.
In place of an injured Grayson McCall, rookie quarterback CJ Bailey completed 13 of 20 throws for 156 yards. On Saturday, Bailey will make his debut.
This season, sophomore running back Kendrick Raphael has ran for 92 yards and a score, while senior running back Jordan Waters has rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Kevin Concepcion, a sophomore wide receiver, leads the team with 22 receptions for 199 yards and two touchdowns. The Wolfpack have won two of the previous three meetings between these teams by a wide margin and have covered the spread in five consecutive ACC games.
