North Texas Mean Green vs UTSA Roadrunners What to Watch:

On Friday night, the North Texas Mean Green play the UTSA Roadrunners in a crucial AAC game in an attempt to earn bowl eligibility. North Texas lost to Army 14-3 on Saturday, while UTSA is coming off a bye after defeating Memphis 44-36 on November 2. The Mean Green (5-4, 2-3 AAC) have dropped their last three games and are currently tied with three other teams for sixth place in the league. The Roadrunners (4-5, 2-3 AAC) have won two of their previous three games and are tied for sixth place in the AAC.

Kickoff in the Alamodome in San Antonio is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. With three consecutive victories, UTSA leads the series 7–5. According to the most recent North Texas vs. UTSA odds, the Mean Green are 1.5 points ahead.

This season, Chandler Morris, a junior quarterback, has been quite productive. With 10 interceptions and a 148.5 rating, he has completed 248 of 386 passes (64.2%) for 3,087 yards and 26 touchdowns in nine starts. He has thrown seven times for 300 yards or more, including four for 400 yards or more. On October 26, he completed 38 of 55 passes (69.1%) for 449 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-37 loss against Tulane. For 20 yards and a touchdown, he also carried six times.

Junior DT Sheffield has been Morris' major objective. The Washington State transfer has a team-high 55 receptions for 10 touchdowns and 721 yards (13.1 average). In a 41-37 victory over Florida Atlantic on October 12, he recorded an 11-catch, 126-yard, and two-touchdown performance, one of four performances with 100 yards or more. He caught nine catches for 125 yards (13.9 average) and one touchdown in the Tulane loss. 

The offensive effort of the Roadrunners is led by sophomore quarterback Owen McCown. With just four interceptions and a 136.2 rating, he has completed 205 of 339 passes (60.5%) for 2,364 yards and 20 touchdowns in nine games. 


In a 46-45 loss against Tulsa on October 26, he went 30-for-50 for 434 yards and four touchdowns, one of three games in which he has thrown for 300 yards or more.

Houston Thomas, a sophomore tight end, is one of UTSA's offensive weapons. He has stepped up when receivers Devin McCuin and Willie McCoy have been out of commission lately. With 26 receptions for 391 yards (15.0 average) and three touchdowns, Thomas is one of the team's best pass catchers. He grabbed six catches for 44 yards and two scores during the Memphis defeat. In the defeat against Tulsa the previous game, he caught six passes for 132 yards, including a 40-yard long.
