Northern Illinois Huskies vs Miami (OH) RedHawks What to Watch:

Tuesday night's MACtion features a matchup between the Miami (OH) RedHawks (6-4) and the Northern Illinois Huskies (6-4). Both of these teams are on winning streaks going into this clash. Akron lost to Northern Illinois 29–16 last week. For their part, the RedHawks have won five in a row. They defeated Kent State 34-7 on November 13. Miami is fighting for a berth in the conference championship game and is tied for first place in the MAC standings at 5-1. After Bowling Green, the RedHawks now have the second-lowest MAC title odds (+320). Conversely, NIU is 3-2, two games behind, and is unable to advance to the MAC championship game.

At 8 p.m. ET, the game will kick off from Oxford, Ohio's Fred C. Yager Stadium. In the most recent Akron vs. Northern Illinois odds, the RedHawks are currently 1.5-point favorites after opening at -4.5.

Northern Illinois' potent running attack is the cornerstone of their successful offense. Right now, the Huskies lead the conference in both rushing offense (219.7) and overall offense (402.7). In addition to leading the team in rushing yards (631) with three rushing touchdowns and 5.1 yards per carry, senior running back Gavin Williams possesses exceptional vision and strength. Williams has 101 rushing yards and a touchdown in his most recent game.

Antario Brown, a senior running back, is not listed on the depth chart for this week and missed last week's game due to a leg injury.

Telly Johnson Jr., a freshman with 293 running yards and two touchdowns on 50 tries this season, may see more work at the position because NIU has depth at the position.

Brett Gabbert, the senior quarterback, can get the ball to his playmakers. This season, he has thrown for 2,148 yards and 18 throwing touchdowns. In five games this season, Gabbert has passed for two passing touchdowns and at least 200 yards. He had two passing scores and 202 passing yards the previous week.

In the backfield, senior running back Keyon Mozee has shown to be a potent weapon. Mozee can make opponents miss because of his quickness and agility. He has three rushing touchdowns and 846 rushing yards in 2024, enough for second place in the MAC. For the fifth consecutive game, the Missouri native has rushed for 100 yards or more. He ended with 196 rushing yards and a touchdown in the victory over Kent State on November 13.
