#3 Ohio State Buckeyes vs Michigan State Spartans What to Watch:
In 'The Game' on Saturday during college football rivalry week, the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes try to defeat the Michigan Wolverines for the first time since 2019. Michigan (6-5) crushed Northwestern, 50-6, and Ohio State (10-1) recently trounced Indiana 38-15 at home. Last season, on their way to an undefeated National Championship season, the Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes 30–24. In 2024, Michigan is 4-7 ATS and Ohio State is 6-5 against the spread. If Ohio State wins this game or Penn State and Indiana lose, they will advance to the Big Ten Championship Game. Colston Loveland, a tight end, and Will Johnson, a cornerback, are out for Michigan.
Ohio Stadium is set to go off at 12:00 ET. According to the most recent Ohio State vs. Michigan odds, the Buckeyes are 19.5-point favorites.
Last week, the Wolverines defeated Northwestern 50–6 in their 2024 home finale, setting the stage for their most important game of the season. The Wildcats were limited to 117 yards of passing and 11 yards of rushing on 24 tries by Michigan. The Wolverines limited the Hoosiers to 40 yards on the ground on 28 attempts during their defeat at the hands of Indiana. The Wolverines may make this a close game if Michigan's defense can withstand Ohio State's rushing offense, which is the third-best in the Big Ten (177.5 yards per game).
Running backs Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings lead the Wolverines' offensive attack. Edwards has ran for 578 yards on 124 carries with four touchdowns, while Mullings has 153 carries for 832 yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite having just passed for 10 touchdowns versus 10 interceptions, Michigan's three starting quarterbacks this season—Davis Warren, Alex Orji, and Jack Tuttle—haven't done much to spark the offense. However, Warren just had what may have been his best game in the team's victory over Northwestern.
The Buckeyes are just one point away from being the nation's unbeaten, presumptive top team this year. With victories against Penn State and Indiana and a one-point loss at Oregon, they have faced three top-5 teams.
While Ohio State averages 37.8 points per game on offense (10th nationally), they have the best scoring defense in the country (10.7 points per game).
Will Howard, the quarterback, has rushed for seven touchdowns and thrown for 2,685 yards and 26 touchdowns. With a combined 1,489 yards and 14 touchdowns, running backs Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson have established a formidable backfield tandem. The lethal wide receiving core led by senior Emeka Egbuka (56-692-9) and rookie wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (52-899-9) is almost impossible for opposition secondaries to contain.
