#9 Oregon Ducks vs Oregon State Beavers What to Watch:
When the No. 9 Oregon Ducks (2-0) travel to play the Oregon State Beavers (2-0) in a rivalry game on Saturday afternoon, they will want to play cleaner. Despite struggling in both of its opening games as a large favorite, Oregon managed to escape with victories against Boise State and Idaho. After defeating Idaho State 38–15 to start the season, Oregon State easily defeated San Diego State 21-0 last week. In their meeting last season, the Ducks defeated the Beavers 31–7.
Including last week's 21-0 victory over San Diego State, Oregon State is coming off two decisive victories.
The Beavers stopped San Diego State to an only 178 total yards, easily covering the spread as 5.5-point favorites. Jam Griffin, a senior running back, averaged 4.9 yards per carry while sprinting for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Griffin leads the rushing attack with 249 yards and three touchdowns, while junior quarterback Gevani McCoy has thrown for 274 yards and a touchdown. With 226 yards and three touchdowns, junior running back Anthony Hankerson has also helped with the ground game. Oregon State has covered the spread in 11 of its previous 13 September games and is 10-1 in its last 11 home games.
Although they are a great team that is seen as a contender for the national championship, Oregon has struggled to get things going in their first two games. Last week, the Ducks overcame a 34-27 deficit against Boise State by scoring 10 points in a row to win the game. Senior quarterback Dillon Gabriel ran for another touchdown and completed 18 of 21 throws for 241 yards and two scores.
Junior wide receiver Evan Stewart led the team with five grabs for 112 yards and a touchdown, while junior running back Jordan James ran 17 times for 102 yards. In Week 1 versus Idaho State, Gabriel finished with 380 throwing yards and two touchdowns.
In their previous 16 encounters with Oregon State, Oregon is 13-3, and in six of their last nine matchups, the Ducks have covered the spread.
