#4 Penn State Nittany Lions vs Purdue Boilermakers What to Watch:
On Saturday on Paramount+, the Purdue Boilermakers (1-8, 0-6) take on the No. 4 Penn State Nittany Lions (8-1, 5-1) in Week 12, a matchup between Big Ten rivals at opposite ends of the rankings. The Boilermakers' 2024 campaign is still going poorly; most recently, they were shut out 45-0 by No. 2 Ohio State. This season, Penn State has only lost once, to the Buckeyes. Other than that, the Nittany Lions have dominated, most recently defeating Washington 35–6 to maintain their position as a top College Football Playoff candidate.
At 3:30 p.m. ET, kickoff will take place from Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana. According to the most recent Purdue vs. Penn State odds, the Nittany Lions are 29.5-point favorites.
Not all of the Boilermakers' games have been lopsided defeats, even though they haven't won since defeating Indiana State 49-0 in Week 1. Both of Purdue's in-conference games against Illinois and Washington ended in overtime, demonstrating their ability to score points and keep games close.
In their most recent meeting, which took place in 2022, the Boilermakers rallied in the second half in West Lafayette and lost by a slim margin, 35-31. Despite their strong overall record, the Nittany Lions haven't been a lock to cover often because Penn State is only 2-4 against the spread in their last six games this season.
In two of their last three games—both of which were wins—the Penn State Nittany Lions have covered the spread. As they make their first trip to West Lafayette since 2022, they are also 5-1-0 ATS in Big Ten play and 2-1-0 ATS on the road this season.
After completing 71.4% of his passes against Washington in Week 11, all eyes will be on starting quarterback Drew Allar to continue to perform well. Kaytron Allen has led the running attack and Allar has made frequent connections with Harrison Wallace III. All three should be playing well on Saturday against the Big Ten's weakest defense.
