SMU Mustangs vs Nevada Wolf Pack What to Watch:
With a new head coach, Nevada is embarking on a new chapter. In a new conference, SMU is beginning a new era.
After two consecutive 2-10 seasons, the Wolf Pack have had a difficult run. Former Texas defensive coordinator Jeff Choate will now have to take over. It would be significant to defeat a Power Four program.
After winning the American Athletic Conference the previous season, SMU left to join the newly redesigned ACC. The team's only road game until October 5th against Louisville is this one.
Preston Stone should become an ACC star right away, the passing game should be lethal, and all of the key playmakers are back. Both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball will be excellent.
Nearly all of the best tacklers are expected to return, the pass rush should be fantastic, and Nevada's offensive line, which is still rebuilding, shouldn't be able to handle any of it.
There are good skill parts in the Wolf Pack. This may be intriguing if the O line can accomplish anything to give everyone a little time.
Choate is a great defensive coach who manages to keep the SMU offense from dominating, at least for periods of time, by inheriting a good set of linebackers, quality corners, and enough players coming in through the transfer portal.
For the new coaching staff, this must be an intangibles game.
