South Carolina Gamecocks vs Oklahoma Sooners What to Watch:

On Saturday afternoon, the Oklahoma Sooners (4-2) will play the resolute South Carolina Gamecocks (3-3) in an attempt to get back on track. Following a 34-3 loss against Texas, ranked first in the Red River Rivalry, Oklahoma dropped out of the top 25. After defeats to No. 7 Alabama and then-No. 12 Ole Miss, South Carolina is looking to end a two-game losing streak. Last week, as 21.5-point underdogs, the Gamecocks came extremely close to defeating the Crimson Tide, but they failed to score after a late onside kick recovery.

The game will kick off at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Oklahoma vs. South Carolina odds, the Gamecocks are now 1-point favorites after Oklahoma was favored by as much as 5.5 points in the lookahead lines.

The Sooners committed five total turnovers in their defeats to Tennessee and Texas, making it impossible for Oklahoma to overcome those errors. This game could be crucial to their chances of extending the second-longest bowl streak in the nation, which now stands at 25 seasons. Their defense has been their defining feature this season; with 14 forced turnovers, they are tied for eighth place nationally and lead the SEC.

Their victory over Auburn two games ago was largely attributed to their sacks per game (3.17), which also ties them for tenth place in college football. Since assuming the starting role against Tennessee, rookie quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. has been accumulating crucial experience, finishing 62.7% of throws for 458 yards and a touchdown. South Carolina is 1-5 in its past six away games, while Oklahoma is 10-1 in its last 11 home games.

Starting as a 9.5-point road underdog in early September, South Carolina defeated Kentucky 31-6 to begin the season as an upset-minded squad.

After nearly defeating No. 7 Alabama as 21.5-point underdogs last week, the Gamecocks covered the spread as 6.5-point underdogs against then-No. 16 LSU in their next game. After an onside kick recovery in the closing seconds, they had a chance to win the game, leading 19–14 going into the fourth quarter.

LaNorris Sellers, a rookie quarterback, ran for 20 yards and completed 23 of 31 throws for 238 yards and a touchdown. Raheim Sanders, a senior running back, averaged 4.9 yards per carry and contributed 78 rushing yards and a touchdown. In addition to covering the spread in four of its past five games this season, South Carolina has done it in six of its previous seven SEC games.
