Stanford Cardinal vs #11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish What to Watch:

On Saturday afternoon, the No. 11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-1) will host the Stanford Cardinal (2-3) in an attempt to win four straight games. After defeating then-No. 15 Louisville 31–24, Notre Dame is completing a three-game homestand. Three weeks ago, Stanford defeated Syracuse as a 9-point underdog, but since then, it has lost badly to Virginia Tech and then-No. 17 Clemson. In their last ten meetings, these rivals have split, with Notre Dame easily defeating them 56-23 on the road last year.

Notre Dame Stadium will host the game on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The most recent Notre Dame vs. Stanford odds have Notre Dame as the favorite by 23.5 points.

Outside of their surprise upset loss to Northern Illinois at home this season, Notre Dame had appeared to be a serious candidate for the College Football Playoffs. They have defeated Purdue and then-No. 20 Texas A&M on the road, and they have won three of their last four games by double digits. In their most recent performance, they defeated Louisville, ranked No. 15 at the time, 31–24, covering the spread as 6.5-point favorites.

Against the Cardinals, senior quarterback Riley Leonard completed 17 of 23 throws for 163 yards and two touchdowns.

With 374 yards, seven touchdowns, and an average of 6.3 yards per carry, he is also the team's top rusher. The Fighting Irish have covered the spread in six of their previous eight games and are 10-2 in their last 12 home games.

After suffering consecutive crushing defeats, Stanford traveled to defeat Syracuse as a 9-point underdog in Week 3. In that game, freshman running back Chris Davis Jr. contributed 79 yards, and junior quarterback Ashton Daniels completed 23 of 38 throws for 178 yards. Daniels missed the Virginia Tech game because of a lower-body injury he sustained during the Clemson loss.

He might make a comeback this week and was dubious going into the match. Micah Ford, a freshman running back who gained 122 of those yards versus Clemson, tops Stanford's rushing offense with 223 yards on 46 carries. As a double-digit favorite this season, Notre Dame has lost both of its games and failed to cover the spread.
