Stanford Cardinal vs Syracuse Orange What to Watch:
The ACC game between the Stanford Cardinals (1-1) and the Syracuse Orange (2-0) kicks off the Week 4 college football schedule on Friday. Syracuse finished 3-1-1 ATS as the favorite in 2023. The Cardinals, however, were the away underdog and trailed 2-2. This season, both clubs are 1-1 against the spread.
On offense, Syracuse has a number of players that can make a difference for quarterback Kyle McCord. Junior LeQuint Allen is the primary choice at running back. Allen runs with purpose and possesses remarkable contact balance. The native of New Jersey has rushed 30 times for 181 yards and six yards per run in two games. Allen has three receptions, 47 yards, and 83 rushing yards in his most recent game.
Oronde Gadsden II, a junior tight end, is a powerful pass catcher with the hands to catch passes. He leads the club in rushing yards (201) with three touchdowns and catches (13) as well. Gadsden II had six receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns in the victory over Georgia Tech. Trebor Pena, a junior running back, is another danger in the passing game. He has four touchdowns and 166 yards from 12 receptions.
In this matchup, the Cardinals' defense must be prepared. They are giving up a conference-low 64.5 rushing yards and 20.5 points per game after two games. Jay Green, a junior safety, is a dependable defender who exhibits remarkable awareness in both phases of play.
Green has one forced fumble and 12 total tackles.
Gaethan Bernadel, a senior linebacker who leads the team in tackles (16), seems to be in on every play. He has made at least six stops overall in back-to-back games. Bernadel is joined in the center of the field by senior linebacker Tristan Sinclair. Sinclair has a talent for locating the ball carrier and is a confident tackler. This season, he has recorded 11 total tackles and one sack.
