#21 Syracuse Orange vs Washington State Cougars What to Watch:

The No. 21 Syracuse Orange will play the Washington State Cougars in the 2024 Holiday Bowl on Friday. The Hurricanes were eliminated from the College Football Playoffs by Syracuse's thrilling 9-3 season, which culminated in a decisive victory over Miami (FL). In the meanwhile, Washington State defeated Washington 8–4 in the Apple Cup, however they will have to replace head coach Jake Dickert, who departed to take a position at Wake Forest.

San Diego's Snapdragon Stadium will kick underway at 8 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Syracuse vs. Washington State odds, Syracuse is favored by 18.5 points.

Kyle McCord, a transfer from Ohio State, contributed to the success of Fran Brown's first season as head coach at Syracuse. With 4,326 passing yards and 29 touchdowns versus 12 interceptions, the former Buckeyes quarterback led the ACC. McCord dominated the victory versus Miami and ran for three touchdowns this season.

As a 12-point underdog, he went 26-for-36 for 380 yards and three touchdowns in the stunning upset victory. The Orange, who are underdogs, won by a wide margin for the fifth time this season, and they have already won three of their last four games. The college football transfer portal hasn't had much of an impact on Syracuse's offense.

Due to conference reorganization, the Cougars were forced to play an independent schedule this season because they were one of only two institutions remaining in the original Pac-12. But Dickert's team persisted, defeating Texas Tech and Fresno State in addition to defeating Washington in the early-season Apple Cup. But when the Wake Forest position became available earlier this month, Dickert left, and the Cougars have been greatly impacted by the transfer portal as a result.

The Cougars were forced to play an independent schedule this season after being hung out to dry in conference realignment as one of only two schools remaining in the former Pac-12. Dickert's team, however, persisted in winning, defeating Texas Tech and Fresno State in addition to defeating Washington in the early season Apple Cup. The Cougars have been greatly influenced by the transfer portal since Dickert left the team earlier this month when the Wake Forest position became available.
