Temple Owls vs UTSA Roadrunners What to Watch:

On Friday night, the UTSA Roadrunners will play the Temple Owls in an American Athletic Conference (AAC) matchup. Temple is 3-7 and 2-4 in the AAC, while UTSA is 5-5 overall and 3-3 in AAC play. After defeating North Texas 48-27 on Friday, UTSA won for the second time in a row. The Roadrunners have now scored more than 40 points in three games in a row. To qualify for the bowl, they must win one more game. Temple ended a two-game losing streak on Saturday by defeating Florida Atlantic, 18–15, in overtime. However, head coach Stan Drayton was fired on Sunday after the win was insufficient to keep him in his position. Everett Withers, the defensive coordinator, becomes the Owls' temporary head coach.

The game will kick off at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, at 7 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Temple vs. UTSA odds, UTSA is currently a 17-point favorite after beginning at -14.5.

Last week, aside from kneel-downs at the conclusion of regulation, the Owls had four drives in the second half and either scored or put themselves in a position to score. Temple completed an 8:45, 15-play, 87-yard drive that was culminated by a 1-yard touchdown run by Terrez Worthy. With 7:15 remaining in the fourth quarter, Temple had a 12-7 lead thanks to two fourth-down conversions during the series. Temple missed a 51-yard field goal on its first possession of the second half, and that touchdown was in between made field goals.

In an 18–15 victory over Florida Atlantic, kicker Maddux Trujillo made amends for that error with makes of 50 and 47 yards before making the game-winning 39-yard field goal in overtime. However, the day following the triumph, Temple fired head coach Stan Drayton. Everett Withers, the defensive coordinator, will take over as interim head coach. Coaching changes can occasionally make the team realize that bad play has repercussions. Dante Wright, a senior wide receiver, will probably be crucial again on Friday after recording 14 receptions for 147 yards the previous week.

This season, the Roadrunners' attack has been among the most effective in college football, and they have been particularly strong in the last few weeks. Over the past four games, UTSA has averaged 43.8 points per game and has scored more over 40 points in three consecutive games. The Roadrunners are 3-1 during that time, and their only defeat was against Tulsa 46-45 after giving up two touchdowns in the last 2:30 of the game.

Owen McCown, a sophomore quarterback, is currently averaging 274.3 passing yards per game. In a 48-27 victory over North Texas, he ran for 88 yards on 10 carries and passed for 379 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. In four consecutive games, he has passed for at least 280 yards, 14 touchdowns, and three interceptions.
