Tennessee Volunteers vs Georgia Bulldogs What to Watch:
The No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs (7-2, 5-2) will host the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers at Sanford Stadium on Saturday in a matchup of SEC heavyweights. The Bulldogs' 28-10 setback to Ole Miss last week ended their four-game winning streak. Georgia fell to fourth in the SEC standings as a result of the defeat. After defeating Mississippi State 33–14 last week, the Vols are hoping to stretch their winning streak to five games. As of right now, Tennessee leads the conference in standings. Dont'e Thornton Jr., a receiver, and quarterback Nico Iamaleava have been cleared to play for Tennessee.
Running back Trevor Etienne is out for Georgia, and offensive lineman Micah Morris, running back Cash Jones, and receiver Anthony Evans III are all listed as questionable.
The Athens kickoff is set at 7:30 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Georgia vs. Tennessee odds, the Bulldogs are favored by 9.5 points.
The Georgia offense, which has struggled in 2024, will come up against the Tennessee Vols. The Bulldogs are a middling SEC offense even though they have a number of prospective NFL Draft picks and a quarterback who could be selected in the first round. Conversely, Tennessee's defensive performance has been particularly impressive. In terms of both total yards (271.2) and points (12.6) given up per game, the Vols are currently ranked second in the conference.
Iamaleava, who left last week's game at halftime, will make a comeback for the Vols on Saturday. In his first full season as the program's starter, the former five-star prospect has been reliable, throwing for 1,879 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions. With 1,129 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns so far, Tennessee running back Dylan Sampson has become an All-American candidate.
Homefield advantage belongs to Georgia, and Sanford Stadium is among the most challenging venues for collegiate football games. If the Bulldogs expect to qualify for the CFP this year, they must also approach this game—and every game for the rest of the season—like a playoff game.
Tennessee, the team Georgia will be playing against, has a poor road record under head coach Josh Heupel, going 7-8 straight up and against the spread in his tenure.
When the Bulldogs are playing and doing well, they have demonstrated that they are among the best teams in the nation. Both Texas and Clemson, who have viable routes to the College Football Playoff, were easily defeated by Georgia this season. With 17 starters and a number of other important players returning from the 13-1, Orange Bowl-winning squad from the previous season, Georgia is likewise a very experienced club.
