#10 Texas A&M Aggies vs South Carolina Gamecocks What to Watch:
On Saturday night, the South Carolina Gamecocks (4-3) will face the No. 10 Texas A&M Aggies (7-1) in an attempt to win their first SEC home game of the season. Last week, South Carolina used two early defensive scores to create a commanding lead and defeated Oklahoma 35-9, ending a two-game losing run. After losing to then-No. 7 Notre Dame in its season opener, Texas A&M has won seven straight games, including a 38-23 victory over then-No. 8 LSU last week. Although there are four teams with one loss immediately after the Aggies, they are the only team undefeated in SEC play.
At Williams-Brice Stadium, kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. According to the most recent South Carolina vs. Texas A&M odds, Texas A&M is favored by three points.
Despite having a mediocre record, South Carolina has only had one genuinely poor game this year. Midway through September, the Gamecocks were defeated by a field goal by then-No. 16 LSU, and a month later, they came very close to defeating then-No. 7 Alabama. Despite finishing as 1-point favorites, they just defeated Oklahoma in a landslide.
The Gamecocks held Oklahoma to just 291 total yards and recorded nine sacks and thirteen tackles for loss.
In his first season as the starting quarterback, rookie quarterback LaNorris Sellers continues to accumulate crucial experience, rushing for 254 yards and passing for 961 yards. Texas A&M has only covered the spread three times in its last eleven games, compared to five times in its last six games for South Carolina.
Three of Texas A&M's final four games of the season are against unranked schools, and the school leads the SEC standings going into those games. Since dropping their season opener, the Aggies have won seven straight games, including victories against then-No. 8 LSU and then-No. 9 Missouri in the top 10.
Last week, against LSU, backup quarterback Marcel Reed took Conner Weigman's position in the second half. He led his team to victory with three touchdowns in the second half.
Head coach Mike Elko has not yet announced A&M's quarterback strategy for this week, but Reed has proven to be a reliable option going forward, providing a potent rushing threat. Le'Veon Moss, a junior running back, has amassed 757 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, making him one of the conference's finest backs. The Aggies have covered the spread in four of the previous six meetings between these two teams, and they have won nine of the previous ten encounters.
