#3 Texas Longhorns vs Arkansas Razorbacks What to Watch:
On Saturday afternoon, the No. 3 Texas Longhorns (8-1) will take on the Arkansas Razorbacks (5-4) in an attempt to maintain their hopes of making it to the SEC Championship Game. Texas defeated then-No. 25 Vanderbilt and Florida to recover from its defeat to then-No. 5 Georgia. Over the past six games, Arkansas has alternated between victories and defeats. Two weeks ago, the team lost to Ole Miss, then ranked 19th, 63-31. Although it is the 80th meeting in history, this is the first time Texas and Arkansas will meet as SEC members. Arkansas lists quarterback Taylen Green and running backs Braylen Russell and Ja'Quinden Jackson as likely, while Texas linebacker Morice Blackwell Jr. is labeled as doubtful.
On Saturday, Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium will kick off at 12:00 ET. The most recent Arkansas vs. Texas odds see Texas as the favorite by 13.5 points.
Arkansas defeated then-No. 4 Tennessee as a 14-point home underdog last month, their first home victory of the season against a top-10 club. In the school's largest victory of the season, junior quarterback Taylen Green completed 19 of 27 passes for 266 yards. In September, the Razorbacks also played close games against Texas A&M, then ranked No. 24, and Oklahoma State, then ranked No. 16.
In addition, Green threw five touchdown passes as they easily defeated Mississippi State 58-25 at the end of October as 7.5-point favorites.
Russell demonstrated the offensive potential of Arkansas with 175 rushing yards on 16 rushes in that contest. In five of their last six games versus Texas, the Razorbacks have covered the spread, and they have done it in six of their previous nine games.
This season, Texas has won eight of its first nine games, seven of which were by a margin of at least 19 points. The Longhorns, 21.5-point favorites, cruised to a 49-17 victory over Florida after a strong performance. Freshman running back Jerrick Gibson had 100 rushing yards and a touchdown, while junior quarterback Quinn Ewers completed 19 of 27 throws for 333 yards and five touchdowns.
The Longhorns then tied for their highest-ever placement in the College Football Playoffs, rising to No. 3. After losing to Oklahoma State in 2022, they have won nine straight away games, finishing 5-0 last year and 2-0 this year. Arkansas is 2-9 against the spread in its last 11 home games, while Texas has covered the spread in nine of its last 13 games.
