UNLV Rebels vs Utah State Aggies What to Watch:
The Utah State Aggies (1-4) host the UNLV Rebels (4-1) on Friday, a Week 7 matchup between Mountain West rivals. The Aggies are 0-1 in conference play and have had a difficult season since winning in Week 1 of 2024. They take on UNLV, a club that has performed admirably all season but now has a difficult time surviving a Week 6 overtime setback to Syracuse in order to qualify for the College Football Playoffs.
CBS Sports Network will kick off from Maverik Stadium at 9 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Utah State vs. UNLV odds, the Rebels are now favored by 18.5 points after starting at -17.5.
The Aggies are 6-0 at home against this Mountain West rival and have a strong record against the Rebels despite their recent struggles. They also won their first game of the season by themselves at home in Week 1, and after losing in overtime, they are playing a squad that might be raw.
Whether quarterback Spencer Petras can compensate for the defensive gaps will be crucial for Utah State on Friday. In Week 6, the Iowa transfer threw for 372 yards and three touchdowns, but Boise State scored 62 points thanks to Utah State's defense. The Aggies might be able to stay within the amount if Petras plays well again on Friday.
Since starting the last two games under center, Hajj-Malik Williams has improved UNLV's performance. Last week, he threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns in the overtime loss against Syracuse. In two games with Williams under center, the senior wide out has 262 receiving yards and three touchdowns after he connected with Ricky White III on one of those scores.
Utah State's defense, which gave up 62 points to Boise State in its most recent game, will be tested against UNLV's explosive offense. The Rebels have scored more than 40 points in consecutive games this season, while the Aggies have given up more than 40 points per game three times.
