#12 Utah Utes vs Utah State Aggies What to Watch:

In a series that has been largely idle in recent years, an in-state rivalry game begins on Saturday. At Maverik Stadium's Merlin Olsen Field, No. 12 Utah takes on Utah State. The Aggies are reeling after last week's defeat, while the Utes are coming in swinging from a win.

Even the low 54.5 over/under that was set by oddsmakers for Utah vs. Baylor last week proved to be too high. In the team's first Big 12 conference game, Utah defeated the Bears 23–12.

A number of important players helped Utah win. Micah Bernard caught a touchdown and led the team in rushing with 118 yards.

Due to a finger injury to his throwing hand, quarterback Cameron Rising departed the game during the first half and never came back. He should return for the start of Big 12 play, but it is unlikely that he will participate in this game. 

In the meantime, Utah State's offense simply did not perform well on Saturday. The Aggies were given a 48-0 thrashing by USC after losing the game. Although the Aggies were undoubtedly aware of their disadvantage in the point spread, the outcome was nevertheless unavoidable.

Utah State only managed 190 total yards at the end of the game due to their inability to move the ball. In that department, USC gained 544, crushing its opponent.
