Virginia Tech Hokies vs #7 Miami Hurricanes What to Watch:

When Virginia Tech returns to Miami's Hard Rock Stadium on Friday night to play No. 7 Miami (4-0), they are 5-8 over their last 13 meetings with the Miami Hokies, but more than half of those wins were away from home. As the Week 5 college football calendar begins, Virginia Tech (2-2) has won two of the previous five encounters at Miami in this ACC matchup. When Virginia Tech plays Miami in the 2024 college football season, can Miami put up a strong performance on their home field, or will Virginia Tech once more show that they are not scared to play in an NFL stadium and win in an unexpected fashion?

At 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, Miami vs. Virginia Tech will begin at Hard Rock Stadium. According to the most recent Virginia Tech vs. Miami odds, the Hurricanes are 17.5-point favorites.

The Hurricanes, who are coming off a 50-15 victory against South Florida in a game they were favored by 16.5 points, have scored at least 50 points in three consecutive games. During that time, they are also only giving up eight points per game. The season began with the Hurricanes traveling to Florida as 2.5-point favorites, but they defeated the Gators 41-17, outscoring them 529-261. Miami has the 10th-lowest yards per play (3.9) in college football and is ninth in scoring defense, giving up 10.7 points per game.

This season, Virginia Tech is 1-1 away from home. On September 14, they defeated Old Dominion 37–17, covering the spread. The Hokies scored 17-7 in the fourth quarter and 23-7 in the second half to outscore Old Dominion. After scoring the first 14 points in the fourth quarter, Virginia Tech had a chance to pull off a comeback victory last week, but Rutgers' 24-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining in the fourth quarter, with the score tied at 23, proved to be the game-changing play. In each of their four games this season, Virginia Tech has outscored their opponents in the fourth quarter; the Hokies simply need to get out to a faster start to match their final totals.

Bhayshul Tuten, a senior running back, has averaged at least five yards per carry in each of his four collegiate seasons. He comes into Friday with 391 rushing yards, seven touchdowns, and an average of 5.8 yards per rush. After rushing for 13 touchdowns at FCS North Carolina A&T the previous season, he had 10 touchdowns in his debut season with Virginia Tech last season, almost matching his previous scoring total. Virginia Tech's best course of action might be to keep Miami off the field as much as possible because they can score quickly.
