Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs Jacksonville State Gamecocks What to Watch:

When the Jacksonville State Gamecocks (8-4) play the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (8-4) in the 2024 Conference USA Championship Game on Friday, a winner will be declared. Despite losing two of their last three games, the Hilltoppers just defeated Jacksonville State 19–17 on November 30. The Gamecocks had won eight straight games until the defeat to WKU. Following an injury sustained during last week's defeat, Jacksonville State starting quarterback Tyler Huff (ankle) is regarded as a game-time decision.

CBS Sports Network will kick off from Jacksonville, Alabama's AmFirst Stadium at 7 p.m. ET. The Gamecocks are now 4.5-point favorites after opening at -1.5, per the most recent Western Kentucky vs. Jacksonville State odds.

The Hilltoppers will be optimistic they can win again on Friday after defeating Jacksonville State 19–17 last week. In the victory, Western Kentucky limited Jacksonville State to only 99 passing yards. This season, the Hilltoppers' defense is allowing 22.17 points per game, which is 41st in collegiate football. Western Kentucky, which ranks eighth in the country for the fewest penalties (50), is likewise incredibly disciplined.

Caden Veltkamp, the quarterback, passed for 301 yards and a touchdown in the victory over Jacksonville State last week. Veltkamp has completed 67.2% of his throws for 2,665 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions going into Friday's game.

Kisean Johnson, a wide receiver with 65 receptions for 830 yards and six touchdowns, is Veltkamp's top target.

The Gamecocks have one of the most potent rushing attacks in the country. Jacksonville State is third in college football with an average of 257.4 running yards per game. Tre Stewart, a running back, has been quite productive, logging 20 rushing touchdowns, 1,403 yards, and 237 carries. He concluded last week's loss against the Hilltoppers with 85 rushing yards and a touchdown, averaging 5.9 yards per carry.

Jacksonville State is 18th in the US in terms of offensive output, scoring 35.4 points per game. The Gamecocks are 12-1 in their last 13 games versus a conference opponent and 5-0 in their last five home games.
