Nevada Wolf Pack vs #12 Boise State Broncos What to Watch:
Can Ashton Jeanty and Boise State continue their run toward the playoffs, or will Nevada find a way to pull off the upset to redefine their season? The No. 12 Boise State Broncos will host the Nevada Wolf Pack in Mountain West action on Saturday, and the stakes will be particularly high for one team. The Broncos (7-1) are on a possible path to the College Football Playoff, as the Group of Five is now guaranteed one entry into the 12-team tournament. Nevada (3-7) would love to play spoiler.
At Boise, Iowa's Albertsons Stadium, kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET. According to the most recent Boise State vs. Nevada odds, the Broncos are 24 points ahead.
Jeanty was already considered one of America's top running backs, but he has improved even more, making him one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy on a team that wants to make the CFP. During the first eight games of the season, Jeanty has run for 1,525 yards and scored 21 touchdowns in total. He has also scored multiple touchdowns in six of the eight games.
But it's not just their great running back who makes the Broncos. Maddux Madsen is the Mountain West's top quarterback in terms of passer rating (153.9), yards per attempt (8.0), and touchdown passes (17). The Boise State defense, meanwhile, has held opponents to just 300.7 yards per game over its last three games and has four players on the roster with at least 4.5 sacks.
With three games remaining, the Wolf Pack have little chance of finishing at.500 or higher, but they have a history of beating oddsmakers' predictions while playing Boise State. In its last ten meetings with the Broncos, Nevada has covered seven of them, including an upset victory as 3.5-point favorites at Albertsons Stadium.
In fact, Nevada outscored Colorado State 441-327 in a 38-21 defeat, and has kept its last three opponents to less than 400 yards of total offense. The Wolf Pack have a potent three-headed rushing offense led by quarterback Brendon Lewis, Savion Red, and Patrick Garwo, who have combined for almost 1,600 running yards and 20 touchdowns this season.
