Colorado Buffaloes vs Nebraska Cornhuskers What to Watch:
Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers (1-0) will play longtime rivals Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes (1-0) at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday. The Huskers defeated UTEP 40-7 in Week 1 thanks to a strong showing from Dylan Raiola, their highly-touted rookie quarterback. The Buffs defeated North Dakota State 31-26 in a fiercely contested game to begin their second season under Coach Prime. In the victory, two-way sensation Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders appeared to be serious candidates for the Heisman Trophy. Colorado has swept the series, including a 36-14 victory in 2023, but Nebraska leads the all-time series 49-21-2.
Lincoln, Nebraska's Memorial Stadium will kick off the game at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Huskers are favored by 6.5 points.
Colorado has a clear advantage at quarterback in senior Shedeur Sanders, but Dylan Raiola might end up saving Nebraska football. In CU's season-opening victory, Sanders, who stands 6' 2" and weighs 215 pounds, passed for 445 yards and four touchdowns. In 2023, Sanders guided Colorado to a 36–14 victory over Nebraska.
Additionally, Colorado boasts a variety of wide receivers that Nebraska's secondary will have to contend with. Against North Dakota State, two-way star Travis Hunter had a performance worthy of winning the Heisman Trophy. He caught seven catches for 132 yards and three touchdowns and recorded three defensive tackles. LaJohntay Wester, Will Sheppard, and Jimmy Horn Jr. complete the Buffs' receiving corps.
Up front, the Huskers are expected to have a sizable lead on both sides of the ball. Despite making offseason changes to both its offensive and defensive lines, Colorado's teams suffered greatly against North Dakota State. The Buffs had to be one-dimensional offensively against NDSU because they only managed 59 yards of rush yardage. The Huskers will have the chance to take advantage of this mismatch on Saturday night.
Raiola is Nebraska's most gifted quarterback in well over a decade. With 70.4% of his throws completed for 238 yards and two touchdowns in his debut, the former five-star prospect showed off his skill. Raiola is more than capable of dismantling the Colorado defense in Week 2, much like NDSU quarterback Cam Miller did in Week 1.
