#14 Tennessee Volunteers vs #24 NC State Wolfpack What to Watch:

The 2024 Duke's Mayo Classic will take place in Charlotte on Saturday night between No. 14 Tennessee (1-0) and No. 24 NC State (1-0). Last week, the Volunteers defeated Chattanooga 69-3 to start the season. Redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava set a school record for passing yards in a half and was awarded the SEC Freshman of the Week. After dropping nine of its previous ten games versus SEC teams, NC State is searching for a rare victory. The Wolfpack just defeated Western Carolina in a 38–21 final, defeating an FCS rival of their own.

The Duke's Mayo Classic kickoff is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. ET at Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium.

Grayson McCall, a transfer from Coastal Carolina, is a seasoned quarterback for NC State who has amassed over 2,400 passing yards in three different seasons. In the victory over Western Carolina last week, he completed 26 of 40 throws for 318 yards and three touchdowns. Unlike Tennessee, the Wolfpack had more rest after winning that game on a Thursday night.

Jordan Waters, a senior running back, averaged 6.2 yards per carry while rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 20 runs. Kevin Concepcion, a sophomore wide receiver, also had a strong game, hauling in nine catches for 121 yards and three scores.

The Wolfpack are 11-4 up in their last 15 games in Week 2 and covered the spread in five of their last six games from the previous season.

Last week, Tennessee's 45-0 halftime advantage over Chattanooga allowed head coach Josh Heupel to rest his starters in the second half after the team had covered the 41-point spread in the first half. Nico Iamaleava, a rookie quarterback, has the greatest passing yards in a half in school history with 314 yards in the first half. While senior wide receiver Dont'e Thornton Jr. caught three catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns, he completed 22 of 28 passes and scored three touchdowns.

After recovering from a season-ending injury the previous season, senior wide receiver Bru McCoy added six catches for 89 yards. They take against an NC State secondary that is playing without Devan Boykin, their starting safety, who is still recovering from a knee injury sustained during the previous campaign. NC State is only 1-9 in its previous 10 games versus SEC teams, while Tennessee has covered in seven of its last nine games as a favorite.
