#11 USC Trojans vs #18 Michigan Wolverines What to Watch:
The No. 18 Michigan Wolverines (2-1) will be the underdogs at Michigan Stadium for the second game in three weeks. The Wolverines' Big Ten debut for both programs is scheduled for Saturday at the Big House against the No. 11 USC Trojans (2-0). The Wolverines defeated Arkansas State 28-18 in Week 3 after suffering a humiliating 31-12 loss to Texas at home in Week 2. The Trojans opened the season with two victories, despite having a bye in Week 3. Following a 27–20 victory over LSU to start the season, USC defeated Utah State 48–0.
With a 32-18 victory in the 2007 Rose Bowl in the final encounter between the two dominant programs, USC leads the rivalry 6-4 overall.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+ at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. The most recent USC vs. Michigan odds see the Trojans as the favorite by 4.5 points.
For this important matchup, USC has had two weeks to get ready. Following an outstanding victory over LSU in their season opener, the Trojans defeated Utah State in a decisive shutout a week later before taking Week 3 off. In his first season as a full-time starter, junior quarterback Miller Moss has been effective and played football without any turnovers.
Teams managed by Lincoln Riley have never been regarded as defensive powerhouses, but the Trojans of 2024 might be an exception. On that side of the ball, USC's culture has drastically altered under new defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn, and the outcomes speak for themselves. A week later, the Trojans shut out Utah State after limiting LSU's potent onslaught to 20 points.
When the Wolverines control the ball, there will be a certain amount of uncertainty that might be advantageous to Michigan. The Wolverines are using junior quarterback Alex Orji after having some difficulties to start the season.
The quarterback is Alex Orji. at his three years at Ann Arbor, Orji has only attempted seven throws, but two of them have resulted in touchdowns. As a runner-up thus far in his career, Orji has established himself, and Michigan's offense gains a new dimension from his dual-threat skill.
Once again, the Wolverines boast one of college football's top defenses. Will Johnson, a cornerback, is a serious candidate to win the 2024 Jim Thorpe Award and is likely the finest defensive back in the nation. The Wolverines have one of the top defensive interiors in the nation thanks to junior defensive tackles Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, both of whom are projected to be selected in the NFL Draft.
